Mazzi family has been producing wine in the Valpolicella area for generations.
At the end of the 80s, when the children had already grown up, Roberto, the father of the family, decided to follow his other passion: cooking. Such a passion turned out to be contagious to his wife Fiorella, who was not completely gratified with cooking at home.
Their sons, Stefano and Antonio, well-conscious of their father’s dream, were also happy to embrace this cause, as they considered it as the right opportunity to prove their efforts in the vineyards by serving their wines on the tables. Moreover, they knew that this new activity would have kept their father’s attention away from the wine production processes, thus allowing them to experiment and innovate.
«In this sense and with great enthusiasm, we started renovation the 19th century manor house, with its 17th century windmill and the 18th century vault cellar for wine ageing (under Roberto’s supervision, who became restrorer/interior designer on that occasion).
Our goal was to create a romantic site, with particular details that could totally preserve old memoirs.
Our family would like to offer guests something that otherwise would be forgotten, day by day: traditional food and dishes from Verona, particularly those of the Valpolicella area, enriched with our home-made extra virgin olive oil and served with our special wines.
Our idea of agriturism was, above all, that of matching our main activity, namely the farm and its wine production, with a family-run catering activity to offer our products.
Some years ago we also completed our family house renovation, deeply immersed into the 3 hectares-wide Poiega vineyards, among grapes and olive trees. Our yard is also a very good place for a quiet and plesant stay, in case you wished to spend some moments of relax and get the opportunity to discover the countless beauties of the Valpolicella, the city of Verona and its ancient history.»
